Pelorus works for a small number of the world’s leading investors. We help them understand issues that are hard to quantify but have a significant impact on valuation. For example, we assess the effectiveness of companies’ leadership and governance, their exposure to changing government policy or regulation, and their vulnerability to discontinuities such as new competitors and technological change. We also shed light on geopolitical and macroeconomic issues.

Our work covers a broad range of situations, but the goal is always to help our clients make better investment decisions.

We are part of Holdingham Group, which was founded in 1995 and is owned by its partners. Neither Pelorus nor any other part of Holdingham executes trades, manages funds or takes positions. As a result, our incentive is simply to produce the best research that we can.

Our colleagues have worked at, among other organisations, Bain & Company, Capital Group, the European Commission, the Financial Services Authority, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Company, Morgan Stanley, the UK Diplomatic Service and the US Senate.

Compliance is central to everything we do. Our internal procedures have been designed in conjunction with external legal counsel in Europe, the US and Asia. Our head of legal and compliance has 20 years’ experience of financial services regulation, including five years in the enforcement division of the Financial Services Authority. We also work closely with our clients’ own legal and compliance departments.
